So you’re interested in volunteering…GREAT!
You can help adults learn to change their lives by volunteering with Peninsula READS. Our volunteer tutors teach basic reading, writing, math and conversational English skills to adults from Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson and York County. No teaching experience is required. Must be at least 18 years old, have a High School Diploma/GED, and speak, read, and write English fluently.
Resources for Volunteers:
EdNet: ProLiteracy is an international organization that champions the power of literacy to improve the lives of adults and their families, communities, and societies. ProLiteracy works with its members and partners, and the adult learners they serve, along with local, national, and international organizations. ProLiteracy helps build the capacity and quality of programs that are teaching adults to read, write, compute, use technology, and—in the U.S.—learn English as a new language.
